使い分け
指示語を使うと、どれかを特定できる
ものの名前だけでなく、話し手からの距離と数を手がかりに、どれを指すか伝えられます。
特定しない
I want a book.「本が1冊ほしいです」
近くのものを特定I want this book.「この本がほしいです」
遠くのものを特定I want that book.「あの本がほしいです」
距離と数での使い分け
近い / 遠い、単数 / 複数の2軸で選びます。

文法のルール

those は複数。be動詞は are を使う。

Those は複数なので、be動詞は are を使います。is は単数（this/that）のときに使います。

these / those の後ろの名詞は複数形にする。

These/Those は複数形なので、後ろの名詞も複数形にします（book → books）。

複数を指すときは those、単数は that を使う。

離れた場所にある複数のものを指すときは those を使います。that は単数のときに使います。
