could と be able to で過去・未来の「できる」を表す

文法の意味

could は過去の能力・丁寧な依頼、be able to は can の代わりに使う「できる」

could は「昔は〜できた」という過去の能力や、Could you ...? で丁寧に頼むときに使います。be able to は can と同じ意味を表せますが、will be able to のように can を置けない場所でも使えます。

場面によって、主語の後ろに続く形が変わります。
