「予約」を表す book / reserve / reservation の違い・使い分け
book と reserve は動詞、reservation は名詞です。 動詞は使う場面で使い分け、名詞は make / have と組みます。

動詞です。日常会話でよく使い、後ろに 具体的な予約対象 (席・便・部屋・ホテル) を直接置きます。

reserve を使うとき
動詞です。book よりやや硬い言い方で、書き言葉でも使えます。「権利を留保する」のような抽象的な意味は reserve が定型です。

reservation を使うとき
名詞です。reserve の名詞形です。make / have / cancel などの動詞と組み合わせて使います。

reservation は名詞です。動詞のように使えません。動詞で言うなら reserve または book を選びます。
They book the right to cancel.
They reserve the right to cancel.
「権利を留保する」は reserve the right to ... が定型です。book には抽象的な「留保」の意味はありません。
